Unsuccessful!

Unfortunately the Odeon cinema must have recently had added security as all the doors/windows are either bricked or metal boarded up which is a shame.

However, we did come across a couple of other abandoned buildings. It's a bit too busy on the streets to break into them now, but we intend on either going later tonight or tomorrow after a bit of research on the internet. Hopefully we'll have more luck. Will let you know!

Next building to break into....

The odean cinema in Cheltenham has been closed since 5th November 2006, i know that people have been able to get into since then as there are videos on youtube. here's one below, although it's incredibly shit and was posted quite a while a go, it still shows that it is possible!

so me and my housemate are going to venture there tomorrow afternoon to suss out the area and see if we can find a way in. if so we'll go back tomorrow night and take some shots. fingers crossed!

Abandoned building research

here's a website of the raf base i photographed in the previous blog, so you get a better idea of what it is like. it's a completely different atmosphere at night, and it's really hard to get your bearings of where everything is as it's so big.

Abandoned RAF Base

I went home for the weekend, and while I was there I visited an Upwood RAF base which has been abandoned. I had never been here before, so I went with some people as it's illegal to be there, plus there was no knowing if there'd be anyone else there. Near to the entrance there is a large building which is inhabited by swatters, so we steered clear of there.

Although the site is out of bounds to the public as it is still property of MOD, there weren't any signs saying not to go in and we only had to climb over a small gate. There is talk that the base is going to be knocked down soon, as it is only used for airsoft so I don't know if I will be able to have the chance to reshoot, but hopefully I will be able to visit again in the winter.

As the base is abandoned it has a very eerie feel to it, so we didn't want to stop for too long in each site as it was pretty darn scary!

I took about 180 photos, but here are a few I've editted. I decided to change them all to black and white because it would enhance the eerie feel, and would show that it is a documentary style. I only used a fill in flash because we wanted to be as quick as possible, and some of the buildings were quite dilapidated so we didn't really have time to use a tripod.

Any comments would be much appreciated!x
